HEAD COACH GREG MOORE
On whether he was happy with how the team responded in the third period:
Yeah, it was similar to a couple games ago. Just wish we didn’t have to find it. To come out with that intensity in the first period. It happens a lot to us. The room, we’ve got to find a way to manufacture that and play a full sixty minutes in that sense. First period wasn’t awful, we did a lot of good stuff. Second period got away from us for sure. We weren’t making plays, we weren’t sprinting back for pucks, we weren’t supporting the puck well. They forechecked really hard, they pressured us, took away our time and space and it didn’t seem as though our players were ready for it.
On the recent call ups Colt Conrad, Giorgio Estephan and Riley Woods
Yeah, I got to give them a little more ice tonight. It was that type of game and I wanted to for sure. I wanted to see more of them. They played really well, they made plays. They were part of the reason that we started coming back there towards the end and feeling like more of a confident team. So good signs for the development of the organization.
On the line of Matt Read, Tyler Gaudet and Garrett Wilson:
The whole line has been carrying the team as of the last couple games. They play with tons of energy, they take away time and space. You can tell they’re starting to gain more confidence and make more plays with the puck which is really good to see and they have some chemistry with each other and they play hard for each other.
On what Mason Marchment meant to the Marlies:
A lot. For as little time as I’ve been here or spent time with him, I was actually a little emotional. He’s a great kid and I’m sad to see him go but happy for his opportunity and what’s to come for him. I know the guys in the room love him and it’ll be felt that he’s gone.
