Steve Nash: Nets traded Jarrett Allen in part due to financial reasons — ProBasketballTalk | NBC Sports

Nets coach Steve Nash was a rookie head coach last season, but when asked at the Monday morning shootaround how tough it was to send back Allen as part of the Harden trade, Nash said, “For sure. We loved him and wish him a lot of success and are happy for him to get a contract. The reality is he was probably out, we couldn’t probably have re-signed him anyway. Looking at the marketplace, he probably would have gotten a lot of money, and it would’ve been a huge gap compared to some of the other priorities.

“So that was part of the decision in being able to let something like that go. Obviously, the other part is James Harden is a special, special player. But no question we still root for [Allen] and support him.”

    HEAD COACH SHELDON KEEFE

    Q: On tonight’s game
Sheldon Keefe: “I thought we did some good things in terms of how we want to attack the net and
increase our volume a little bit. I don’t know if it’s just a matter of some of the luck coming back our way. I
mean I don’t know if we did anything a whole lot different than we’ve been doing in other games, but it
was certainly nice to see it go in.”
Q: On the status of David Kämpf
Sheldon Keefe: “No update other than he was removed from the nature of the hit, precautionary, so he’ll
be re-evaluated tomorrow and we’ll just take it from there.”
    AUSTON MATTHEWS
Q: On what led to tonight’s surge of offense
Auston Matthews: “I don’t know. I think we just kind of stayed patient the whole night and played really
well within our structure and stayed patient and when opportunities presented themselves guys made
plays and were able to capitalize.”
    JACK CAMPBELL:
Q: On his first game back in LA since being traded
Jack Campbell: “It was a fun game. Obviously we came out and played extremely well and just a great
building, a lot of good memories here and a lot of familiar faces and thought our team played great
    tonight.
