On whether he gets caught up in moments like Matthews tying the franchise record:
“I wouldn’t say I get caught up in it but I’m aware of it. I think it’s outstanding. First of all, getting the 50
goals, that in itself is a milestone for him and then no hesitation he’s onto the next thing which is the next
game and the next challenge. I think his focus remains on leading this team and that’s the best part about
him, he just stays humble and continues to work he knows he’s a great player and knows that goals are
going to come it’s just part of what he does for our club but he’s leading our team in lots of different ways
and that’s what I’m most excited about, but no doubt the accomplishment of tying that record here and
doing it so convincingly here on the road against a team like this and just around the corner from getting
the 55th is pretty outstanding.”

On tonight’s hat trick, franchise tying record and the win:
“This was a big game for us obviously and they’re a really good team, they know how to win so it was an
important game for us. At this point in the season, all these points count and really matter so I thought it
was just a really full effort from all 23 guys, all four lines and three sets of defence for a full 60 minutes. It
was just a complete game from everybody.”
On seeing hats fly onto the ice in a road game:
“I don’t think it’s any secret that we travel pretty well, especially in this part of the US, in Florida. I think a
lot of people migrate down here towards this area and especially in the winter time so it’s fun playing out
here and fun having the visiting support from our fans coming from all over the place.”

“It’s humbling, it means a lot. Obviously just to be in the same sentence as a guy like Rick Vaive and
some of these other guys that have come before us and to kind of represent what it means to be a

On Matthew’s tying the franchise lead in goals scored during a season:
“I feel like a proud brother to be honest. Even when that 50th went in – imagine how excited he was, I
was trying to keep my energy pretty low but I was quite fired up when he got 50. He does a lot for us on
that ice, it’s great to see him get rewarded. Like I said, it kind of feels like a proud brother moment. We’ve
been through a lot together and just trying to continue pushing each other every day and it’s great to see
it show.”

“I mean it’s fun to watch him. He leads by example every day and works so hard. He’s such a great
teammate and to see him get the results on the ice like he’s been doing it’s just incredible. Knowing him
