    POSTGAME QUOTES:
    HEAD COACH SHELDON KEEFE
Q: On getting the win for Joseph Woll in his debut:
Sheldon Keefe: “It was nice to get it for him. Obviously for him coming in here today, his focus is to
come in and do the job for the team and get two points so for us to get it out there, regardless of how we
got it, I’m happy for him and his family.”
    JOHN TAVARES
    Q: On Joseph Woll’s performance:
John Tavares: “I think he played great. I’m sure a lot of jitters, a lot of butterflies for him. He looked
confident and calm. It’s too bad we didn’t do a better job in front of him, but we fought right until the end
and then got a big W so always nice to get him the first one.”
    MORGAN RIELLY
    Q: On Joseph Woll’s performance:
Morgan Rielly: “He’s a good young man. He’s a smart kid, works hard and puts his time in… I thought Joe
was really good so that’s great and obviously there are areas of our game we need to clean up. But the
fact that he gets to walk out here with a win and a game puck and a game like that is awesome and he
deserves it and is playing hard.
    MICHAEL BUNTING
Q: On getting the win for Joseph Woll in his debut:
Michael Bunting: “Yeah we definitely wanted to play for him and play strong in front of him. We had a
couple hiccups that weren’t his fault at all but I thought he played unbelievable in the net and he stood in
there strong for us when we weren’t playing our best so I’m really happy for him and I’m sure it’s going to
be a night he’s going to remember for the rest of his life.”
    JOSEPH WOLL
Q: How his NHL debut has felt – from when he knew was getting the start until tonight:
Joseph Woll: “From the moment I knew I was getting the start it was pretty special. It’s something you
dream of as a kid and I’m just happy I was able to do it with the Leafs. Then for tonight, I think it was such
a special team win. I look at how well they played in front of me and especially after they came back and
made it 4-4 and then we just controlled and dominated the game until the end there. So I can’t say
enough good things about this team and it was pretty cool to see how much they had my back out there.”

POSTGAME QUOTES

HEAD COACH GREG MOORE

On today’s game:
(Chicago) had a great start. We were a little flat. They made it tough on us. They didn’t turn pucks over, they kept putting it in behind. They were establishing their O-zone. We were a little slow closing out plays in our defensive zone. They were spending way too much time in there. We knew they were going to come. We knew they were hungry after yesterday. As the second period came, the team started to come around, started to find our game. I thought we just got better with very shift. The team really rallied around themselves. We got back to our game plan that we had success with yesterday.

On Michael Hutchinson:
He made a lot of big saves. He’s a goalie who has a lot of experience. We’re really luck to have him here. He gave us an opportunity today to come back and win.

    Toronto.
  • Per the NHL Situation Room, the decision was made in accordance with Rule 37.4 that states, in part,
“a puck that deflects into the net off an attacking Player’s skate who does not use a ‘distinct kicking

    POSTGAME QUOTES:
    HEAD COACH SHELDON KEEFE

    Q: On tonight’s game:
Sheldon Keefe: I just thought we did a really good job of defending our net today both coming into our
zone and into the defensive zone. I really liked our special teams, penalty killing was outstanding. That
gives us a lot of life and lot of chances obviously to keep it out of our net. If we keep the score down and
keep the game manageable as offence was hard to come by. And then we get a goal and I don’t think we
gave them very much after that, and the power play come through and we get a nice insurance goal so I
just liked the intensity of our team played with defensively in a game we knew was going to be low event
and hard to get much offence as a team in Philadelphia that hasn’t given up much throughout the season
in terms of chances against and goals against so we needed to be able to be comfortable playing in a
tight game. When we went into the third, we talked about being comfortable winning the game 1-0 if that’s
what it was going to take and we thought that if we had that approach there would be some offence
available to us. Textbook third period in a lot of ways. It was a clean win for our team.
    AUSTON MATTHEWS (TWO ASSISTS)
    Q: Good response game?
Matthews: “…Really good response from us. Everybody down the lineup just really, really solid all
throughout. Soupy was unbelievable for us, just like he’s been all year. Big kudos to him but I just thought
our effort from puck drop was just really solid throughout the whole game.”
    Q: On William Nylander:
Matthews: When he’s going, he’s going. When he’s skating and moving his feet, he’s dangerous all over
the ice and he leads the play well obviously with his skills and his skating. He sees the ice well and he’s
easy to play with. He’s been shooting the puck a little bit more and it’s obviously been going in so he’s
obviously a huge part of this team so when he’s going it obviously makes it a lot easier on us.
    JACK CAMPBELL (36 SAVES)
Q: Do you feel like you were able to bounce back from the other night?
Campbell: “Certainly. You could tell right from the get-go that we had a serious purpose out there and
just executed the whole night. To beat a team like Philly in their own building, and then you gotta win the
net front, they have a lot of great players in front of the net and they weren’t able to get any tips out there
and we were just doing such a great job in front.”
Q: Did you feel like you were in the zone tonight?
Campbell: “I felt like everybody was in the zone, top to bottom. Doesn’t matter who it was, everybody did
their job and did it for 60 minutes. It’s great to see.
    WILLIAM NYLANDER (TWO GOALS)
Q: Did you think your first goal was going to survive video review?
Nylander: “I didn’t really know. I didn’t know if I kicked it or not but when I got to the bench they told me it
was a goal so I was pretty confident that it would be a goal.”
Q: Do you feel like you’re in a zone right now?
Nylander: “Yeah, I think we’re buzzing as a line, creating a lot of chances, and the power play is starting
    to get really good.

    POSTGAME QUOTES
    HEAD COACH GREG MOORE

    On tonight’s game:
This loss stings a bit. I thought our team played a really good game. I think we had three or four posts in the second
period and another one in the third. The team did a lot of good stuff. We found our game today. We had a great start,
which is something we’ve been struggling with the team being ready at the beginning of the game. We started to get into
some penalty trouble at the end of the first which is something that we’ve discussed a lot. We’ve got to make sure we
clean it up out of our game because when we’re playing top opponents who are undefeated, we can play with them, we
can win hockey games but if we’re going to continue to take penalties especially the stick infractions, it just puts us behind
a little. Overall the effort, the compete, our offensive and defensive structure, the energy and just the whole process of
how the guys played today was the right way. It was just one of those games. Sometimes you do everything that you can
and the bounces just don’t go in your favour but we should feel pretty proud of how we played today.
    ALEX BIEGA
    On tonight’s game:
I think it was a good test for our group being in a high energy building like that. For the most part, we had a really solid
game. A couple of bounces here and there could have gone the other way but for the most part, pretty happy with two
points on the road and we just have to take what we have to get better at in this week in practice and execute next week.
