• The Toronto Raptors (10-13) continue a season-long seven-game homestand (Nov. 28 – Dec. 13) Sunday night against the Washington Wizards (14-9) at Scotiabank Arena. Fred VanVleet scored 29 points as he Raptors snapped a five-game home winless streak with a 97-93 victory over Milwaukee on Thursday. Toronto and Washington have split the first two meetings this season with the road team winning both games. The Raptors have won 10 of their last 12 games against the Wizards.
• Giants of Africa, the not-for-profit founded by vice-chairman and president of the Toronto Raptors Masai Ujiri, hosted a celebratory lunch gala today in honour of Nelson Mandela, on the anniversary of his passing. The event kicked off Giants of Africa’s eighth annual celebration of the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s life. Following the gala, festivities will continue at Scotiabank Arena where Mandela will be recognized with ingame presentations and performances as the Raptors take on Washington.
Scottie Barnes has scored in double figures in six straight games (Nov. 21 – Dec. 2). He is averaging 16.2
points and shooting .480 (36-75) from the field during this stretch. Barnes has made 13 threes over the last
six games after making two in his first 15 games of the season. Barnes currently leads all rookies in scoring (15.3), rebounds (8.1) and minutes (35.6), and ranks second with a .489 (130-266) field goal percentage. Barnes has paced Toronto in scoring and assists five times, and rebounds in seven games.
Fred VanVleet scored 26 of his game-high 29 points in the second half in Thursday’s victory vs. Milwaukee. VanVleet has now scored 20+ points in four of the last five games (Nov. 24 – Dec. 2). He is averaging
24.0 points, while shooting .519 (41-81) from the floor and .429 (18-42) from beyond the arc, over the last
five games. VanVleet has scored 20+ points in a team-high 10 games this season.
• Fred VanVleet (81) and Gary Trent Jr. (80) currently rank second and tied for third respectively, in the
NBA in deflections. VanVleet has led the league in deflections per game each of the past two seasons.
Trent Jr. is also fourth in the NBA in steals per game (2.05) and has recorded multiple steals in 13-of-21
games. Toronto leads the NBA in deflections per game (19.7) and ranks third in steals (9.5).
Pascal Siakam has scored 20 points in consecutive games (Nov. 30 – Dec. 2). He is shooting .486 (18-37)
from the field over the last two games. Siakam missed the first 10 games (Oct. 20 – Nov. 5) of the season
recovering from left shoulder surgery.
Goran Dragic is taking time away from the team for a personal matter. There is no definite timeline, and
updates will be provided as appropriate. Dragic is averaging 8.0 points in five games this season.
