NOTES OF THE NIGHT
The Flyers come into today’s game riding a five-game home unbeaten streak, having gone 4-0-1 dating back to March 5. The Flyers have seven home
games remaining including tonight.
Ronnie Attard is expected to become the third Flyer to make his NHL debut in a little over a week, joining Hayden Hodgson (3/24) and Noah Cates
(3/29). Attard was a third-round pick (72nd overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and signed a two-year entry-level contract on Tuesday following the
conclusion of his third season at Western Michigan University. Attard posted 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points in 39 games this season to lead the
Broncos to a berth in the NCAA tournament and the first NCAA tournament win in school history. Western Michigan finished with a record of 26-12-1, the
most wins in program history.
Hayden Hodgson had a goal and an assist last Thursday night in his NHL debut in St. Louis and followed that up with six shots on goal Friday night in
Colorado, while playing more than 16 minutes in each game. On Sunday in Nashville, he played 13:53 while registering his first NHL fight. Per NHL
Stats, Hodgson became just the eighth player in franchise history to record a multi-point game in his NHL debut that included at least one goal, and the
first to do so since David Laliberte in 2009. The full list is below:
Travis Konecny had a four-game scoring streak come to an end Tuesday in Minnesota. Konecny’s streak included three consecutive multi-point
games, one of two goals and the others of two assists each. Per NHL Stats, Konecny became the second Flyer to have three straight multi-point games
this season after Joel Farabee did it in the first three games of the year.
Konecny has at least a point in 21 of his last 30 games dating back to January 15, posting a total of seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points in that
stretch. It included a career-high seven-game scoring streak (1G, 6A) from Jan. 29 – Feb. 22. He has 33 points in 43 games since the Flyers’ coaching
change on December 5 for an average of 0.77 points per game after posting 10 points in the first 21 games of the year (0.47 PPG). Konecny’s 31 assists
on the season lead the Flyers and are just six off his career high of 37 set in 66 games during the shortened 2019-20 season, when he was an NHL AllStar.
Joel Farabee has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in his last 32 games dating back to November 24, a period of time which included him missing a
total of 18 games with upper-body injuries. He has four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 16 games since returning to the lineup on February 26. He
has points in seven of his last nine games, three of which were two-point contests, and he has a total of four goals and six assists for 10 points in that
most recent nine-game run.
Rasmus Ristolainen has 214 hits on the season, which leads the Flyers and is third among NHL defensemen. The total is 77 more than anyone else on
the roster despite missing seven games. Ristolainen has at least one hit in 27 consecutive games and in 58 of the 60 games he has played this season.
He had six hits and six blocked shots March 8 vs. Vegas, becoming the first Flyer to accomplish that feat since Radko Gudas in November 2016 and just
the fifth Flyer to do so since the league started tracking the stats in 2005-06. He followed that up with seven hits and five blocks March 13 vs. Montreal.
Cam Atkinson leads the Flyers in scoring with 50 points (23G, 27A). He’s posted 30 points in his last 35 games. Atkinson leads the team in evenstrength points with 42 and in shots on goal with 203. His six game-winning goals also lead the team, as do his three shorthanded goals on the season;
he is one of 11 players in the NHL to have three or more and is just the second Flyer to have that many since the 2013-14 season, joining Kevin Hayes’
four SHG in 2019-20. Seventeen of Atkinson’s 23 goals this season have come on home ice. Atkinson posted five goals and 10 assists for 15 points
over 13 games in the month of January, which was seven points more than anyone else on the roster.
Keith Yandle became the NHL’s all-time ironman on Jan. 25 when he played his 965th consecutive game in the Flyers’ visit to the New York Islanders.
Yandle’s streak, which reached 989 on Tuesday, dates back 13 years ago yesterday to March 26, 2009 and has included time with Phoenix/Arizona, the
New York Rangers, Florida, and now the Flyers. Tonight is slated to be Yandle’s 1100th career game.
