    POSTGAME QUOTES:
    SHELDON KEEFE
    On his team’s performance tonight:
“That we started fast. Anytime you can play with a lead for 59 minutes or whatever it was is a good thing
and then obviously special teams was really good again tonight and it needed to be. We talked about it
before the game and this team on both sides of it, powerplay and penalty kill, was going to challenge us
better than anybody we’ve seen in quite a while and the guys were excellent today. The powerplay we
had early that we didn’t score, I thought we were able to get some looks and move the puck through
pressure pretty well and big-time goal by Morgan, a huge goal for us. But then the penalty kill in that
second period, I mean the game could have changed dramatically if we don’t get it done there and not
only do we get it done and get out of there clean but we get a huge shorthanded goal again so love those
parts of it and then Jack Campbell was just outstanding in net.”
    MORGAN RIELLY
    On the team’s performance tonight:
“I think it was good, obviously a good win against a really good team that has been playing really well
lately. The special teams stick out when we take that many penalties so I thought the PK did a great job.”
    On his goal tonight:
“I just saw some room, that’s all. Those powerplay breakouts with those two guys behind me it’s normally
an automatic drop so when there is a chance to go you want to be able to take advantage of it.”
    MITCH MARNER
    On Rielly’s power play goal:
“Great read by him, we kind of talked a bit before the game about how they like to come down ice and
pressure. Obviously he saw a lane and trusted himself and I think everyone knows we’ve got a lot of trust
in Mo on that powerplay so when he sees a lane and takes it we have all the confidence in him and it was
a hell of a shot there.”
    On the group’s effort tonight:
“I just didn’t think we backed down off of anything. We were all engaged in puck battles. Special team
wise, everyone was dialed in regardless of powerplay so that’s something we talked about before the
game – we just need to make sure we’re going to match or be better than them at but especially our
penalty kill did a great job.”
    JACK CAMPBELL
    On his primary assist tonight:
“I saw Morgan streaking back on the right side and just left it for him perfectly and that’s about it. He
made an unbelievable play and just a world class player and it was fun to watch.”
On if he saw the ice opening up from his angle:
“I don’t want to say too much because I’m not a player so I’m not out there but it looked like they gave him
a little bit of room for how good of a skater he is and he made a great move with a ton of speed and made
    a perfect shot.

TEAM NOTES:
SIMPLY SID-SATIONAL
Sidney Crosby scored his 500th NHL goal on Tuesday night against Philadelphia. In doing so, he became the second active player (Alex Ovechkin),
and the 46th player in NHL history, to record 500 career regular-season goals.
Crosby enters tonight’s game riding a seven-game point streak (3G-9A) and has points in 12 of his last 14 games (9G-13A), seven of which have been
multi-point efforts. Since this stretch began on Jan. 15, Crosby is tied with Toronto’s Mitch Marner for most second-most points in the NHL:

Sidney Crosby 14 9 13 22
Mitch Marner 11 11 11 22
Matthew Tkachuk 13 7 15 22
Crosby also has points in each of his last six road games (5G-5A).
POINT STREAKIN’
Tonight’s game features three of the league’s longest active point streaks, as Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel are both riding seven-game point
streaks entering tonight’s game, while Toronto’s Auston Matthews (8 games) has the NHL’s longest active point streak:
Player GP G A PTS
Auston Matthews 8 7 9 16
Johnny Gaudreau 8 4 8 12
Elias Lindholm 8 7 6 13
Sidney Crosby 7 3 9 12
Jake Guentzel 7 4 7 11
Guentzel has been one Pittsburgh’s of the most consistent skaters this season. Dating back to Nov. 13, he has been held off the scoresheet in just four
of his last 33 games, and he has points in all but one road game that he’s played in this season (22GP, 17G-14A).
ROAD WARRIORS
The Penguins have been the NHL’s best team on the road in 2021-22 as they enter tonight’s game with a 17-5-3 road record. The team’s 17 road wins,
37 road points, .740 road points percentage and 2.24 road goals-against per games are all tops in the NHL, while their 84 goals for away from home are
tied for fourth most.
Pittsburgh has won six-consecutive road games (6-0-0) dating back to Jan. 15 and with a win tonight can tie the longest road winning streak in the NHL
this season (Toronto, 7GP; Vegas, 7GP). A win tonight would also tie the second-longest road winning streak in franchise history:

CROSBY IN CANADA
This season, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has played seven games in his home country, recording two goals, five assists and seven points, helping
Pittsburgh to 5-1-1 record in those games. Overall, Crosby thrives when playing Canada, as he’s picked up points in 18 of his last 22 games in Canadian
cities. In those 18 games which date back to Nov. 4, 2017 in Vancouver, Crosby has tallied 28 points (11G-17A).
In 23 career road games against the Maple Leafs, he has 13 goals, 13 assists and 26 points.

22 goals, 42 assists and 64 points. He has been held scoreless against Toronto only seven times in his career, and has recorded three or more points
10 times. In the 18 games that he’s recorded multiple points versus the Maple Leafs, the Penguins are 13-4-1. Malkin’s 1.64 points-per-game average is
his highest against any team:

POSTGAME QUOTES

HEAD COACH GREG MOORE

On Toronto’s power play (2 goals):

Power play looked sharp, along with the overall team game in terms of our puck play, looked really clean. You could tell that they were anticipating where to go with the puck before they got it and the mindset of everybody using each other and using all five guys on the ice.

On Joseph Blandisi:

He’s been really good. He’s been scoring a lot lately, he’s really, really competitive. He works really hard, does a lot of little things well defensively, makes it hard on other guys and the other team. He closes quickly, plays inside of contact and finishes his hits. He brings a lot of energy, not only physically but verbally on our bench.

On Nick Ritchie:
He played great. Obviously, a goal there to get us started. He was a presence for us on the power play. Good strong wall plays on breakouts. For a big guy he moves really well, sees the ice really well and has really subtle hands to make small area plays and make his teammates better.

JACK KOPACKA (1 GOAL)

On Toronto’s forecheck:
It’s a big part of our game plan. We have a lot of skilled players on our team, a lot of guys with a lot of speed and we can get behind their D and work the cycle game. We’ve got big bodies as well as skilled players that can make plays out of the corners and we’re having a lot of success.

On the team’s attitude:
We’re going good right now, but you got to keep it going. I think we have a lot to prove to ourselves going into trying to make a playoff push. It’s going to be exciting.

RAPTORS-TIMBERWOLVES PREGAME NOTES

GAME #57 – TORONTO RAPTORS (31-25) at MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES (30-27)
WDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2022 – 8 P.M. (ET) – TARGET CENTER
TV: TSN – RADIO: SPORTSNET 590 THE FAN

The Toronto Raptors (31-25) finish play before the All-Star break Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves (30-27) at Target Center. The Raptors have lost consecutive games (Feb. 12-14) following
an eight-game winning streak – their longest of the season. Toronto is 10-11 vs. the Western Conference this season, after going 10-20 against the West in 2020-21.
• Fred VanVleet scored a team-high 20 points Monday at New Orleans. VanVleet has now scored 20+ points in a career-high seven straight games played (Feb. 1-12), averaging 22.0 points and shooting .457 (32-70) from three-point range during this stretch. He sat out Feb. 10 at Houston with left groin soreness.
VanVleet connected on four three-pointers against the Pelicans and has now made 201 threes this season third most in a season in Raptors history; behind only Kyle Lowry (238 in 2017-18 & 212 in 2015-16).
• Pascal Siakam is currently averaging 22.0 points, and career highs of 8.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists, in 43 games this season. He is one of just six players in the NBA averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists, along with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, James Harden, Nikola Jokic & Dejounte Murray.
• Timberwolves Head Coach Chris Finch was hired midway through last season after spending the first half of the season as an assistant coach on Nick Nurse’s staff. Nurse and Finch have a relationship that goes
back decades when both were coaching in the British Basketball League in the mid-1990s. Finch was also head coach of Britain’s team at the 2012 London Olympics where Nurse was one of his assistants.
• The Raptors set season lows shooting .305 (29-95) from the field and recorded just eight assists in Monday’s loss at New Orleans. Toronto did grab 20 offensive rebounds against the Pelicans and converted those into 24 second-chance points. The Raptors (13.2 OREB, 16.3 2ND PTS ) and Timberwolves (11.9
OREB, 15.4 2ND PTS) rank second and third, respectively, in the NBA in both offensive rebounds and second-chance points this season. Scottie Barnes currently leads all rookies with a team-high 119 offensive boards – the most by a Raptors rookie since Jonas Valanciunas (121) in 2012-13.
• Fred VanVleet
has been named a reserve for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. VanVleet becomes just the eighth player in franchise history to earn an All-Star selection. He is the first undrafted player in the NBA to be named an
All-Star since Ben Wallace in 2006. VanVleet will also compete in the MTN Dew 3-Point Contest.
• Sophomore Precious Achiuwa and rookie Scottie Barnes have been selected to participate in the 2022 Rising Stars, which will be played on Friday, Feb. 18 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland as part of NBA All-Star 2022. Toronto will have two players in the showcase event for the first time since Andrea
Bargnani and Jamario Moon in 2008. Barnes will also participate in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge.

    POSTGAME QUOTES:
    HEAD COACH SHELDON KEEFE
    On tonight’s win:

“I thought we were elite on special teams. I thought we had a real potential advantage coming into the game tonight and it played out that way. The plan put forth by Spencer and Dean on both the power play and the penalty kill and then the execution of the players was high-level today, especially on the power play. It was fun to watch. So, that really set us up to win the hockey game. We made good on the chances that we got in around the net and there’s lots in the game that I didn’t like, and then I thought
Seattle did a good job against us. I liked a lot about the third period, especially the last half of it. A good game to finish the road trip off the right way. Let’s go home.”
    MITCH MARNER
    On tonight’s win
    :
“I thought we were good. Special teams obviously a big part of that win. I thought we got away from our game a little bit there in the second. Didn’t play how we wanted to, too many turnovers and stuff like that
but I think that third period is how we want to finish out games. Be relentless on pucks, be on our toes, playing on the forecheck and not giving them a whole lot.”
    ALEXANDER KERFOOT
    On tonight’s win:
“It’s great to end this road trip off with a win. Obviously, it didn’t go the way we wanted it to, but it was a great response coming here. You never want to come out empty handed so I thought we did the job tonight and we closed it out pretty well in third period in not giving them much.”
    JACK CAMPBELL
    On tonight’s win:

“The team played a complete game. Seattle has a lot of speed. Fun to play them and see what they’ve got. Great building. I thought our guys came out and just played a great game.”
On Marner’s assist on Kämpf’s shorthanded goal:
“He’s a tough player to defend and thankfully I don’t have to worry about that, he’s on our team. Just an incredible player, incredible teammate and incredible play.
