RAPTORS AT 76ERS GAME 1

• The Toronto Raptors begin the 2022 NBA Playoffs on Saturday night against the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center. The Raptors (48-34) won 14 of their last 18 games (Mar. 9 – Apr. 10) to finish in fifth
place in the East. Toronto has qualified for the postseason the eighth time in the last nine seasons.
• This series marks the third time Toronto and Philadelphia will meet in the playoffs. The previous two series oth went seven games. The 76ers edged out Toronto in second round in 2001, while the Raptors prevailed in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2019 en route to the franchise’s first NBA title. Four players remain from Toronto’s 2019 roster – OG Anunoby, Chris Boucher, Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet.
The Sixers have three players left from the 2019 series – Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Furkan Korkmaz.
• Toronto won three of four games against Philadelphia this season. Pascal Siakam averaged a team-high
30.3 points and shot .507 (35-69) from the field in three games vs. the Sixers this year. He recorded his
third career triple-double in the most recent meeting (Apr. 7) with 37 point, 11 rebound and 12 assists. In
four games this year, Toronto has outrebounded Philadelphia 187-158 (+29), including 57-28 on the offensive glass (+29). Reserve Chris Boucher has led the attack on the boards averaging 10.5 rebounds.

They both also ranked in the top-five in total deflections.
• Pascal Siakam averaged 22.8 points, and career bests of 8.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists, in 68 games this
season. Siakam was one of just five players in the NBA to average at least 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and
5.0 assists, along with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Nikola Jokic.
• Pascal Siakam recorded a career-best 30 double-doubles this year. He joined Chris Bosh (five times),
Antonio Davis (twice), Donyell Marshall and Damon Stoudamire (twice) as the only Raptors to have 30 or
more double-doubles in a single season.
• Rookie Scottie Barnes was the only NBA rookie this season – and first in franchise history – to record
1000+ points, 500+ rebounds and 250+ assists. Only three other rookies have totaled 1000/500/250 in last
20 years – Luka Doncic (2018-19), Ben Simmons (2017-18) and Blake Griffin (2010-11).
• Toronto ranked second in the NBA in both offensive rebounds (13.4) and second chance points (16.5) this
season. The Raptors had five different players collected more than 100 offensive rebounds: Scottie
Barnes (195), Chris Boucher (179), Precious Achiuwa (146), Pascal Siakam (128) and Khem Birch
(122). Barnes led all rookie in offensive rebounds, while Boucher topped all reserves in the NBA with 155.

in 2006. VanVleet averaged career highs of 20.3 points, 6.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 65 games. The

POSTGAME QUOTES
HEAD COACH GREG MOORE
On tonight’s game:
We got better as the first period went on. First four shifts or so were definitely not the direction we wanted the game to go in to start. The team did a good job of recognizing it and finding our way back in the game and found some momentum in special teams. We got stronger as the game went on.

On Brett Seney:
He’s been the catalyst for our team all season. With Anderson out, those two guys have a lot of chemistry and play well together but he’s been really strong in levelling up some other guys who have had an opportunity to play with him. He was a big part of the win tonight.

    POSTGAME QUOTES:
    HEAD COACH SHELDON KEEFE
On if this was the bounce back game he was looking for:
“The guys were good tonight. It was more like we’ve been playing. Right from the start it was clear to me
we were more engaged here today, more engaged physically, way more pace, way more speed to our
game and then everything falls into place from there.”
    AUSTON MATTHEWS
    On tonight’s effort:
“Yeah absolutely. Just a full team effort, all four lines, three pairs of defence, Soupy. I just thought it was a
    really complete game from everybody.”
On Bunting breaking is scoreless streak:
“It was great to see. Obviously, it’s not fun being snake bitten and he’s had a lot of opportunities over the
last couple weeks and it feels good to see that puck go in. I think it’s just going to boost his confidence
level and kind of gives you a little bit of an extra step when you breakthrough like that so it’s huge for him
and in that moment it was a big goal too.”
    MICHAEL BUNTING
On if his scoreless streak was weighing on him:
“I think if anyone says it isn’t, they are probably lying. Obviously, that was in my mind a little bit but we
were winning and my line was producing and we were going really well so I couldn’t let that get in the way
of playing my game. That being said it felt good to get one tonight.”
On how he didn’t change the rest of his game despite not scoring for a period of time:
“I’ve got to stay true to myself and keep doing what has gotten me here and what kept me in the lineup
and what kept me producing throughout the year so I can’t shy away from that part of my game. I know I
can bring that side every single night, even when I’m not scoring so that’s part of my game and that’s who
    I am.”
    JACK CAMPBELL
    On tonight’s game:
“It was a great game, the boys played great. We got a big two points and we’re back at it Saturday.”
On the collision with Tom Wilson:
“I just reached for the puck and it’s a hockey play. I met him at the All-Star game and he’s a nice guy so I
don’t think any harm was done by it and I love a little contact here and there so it’s fine.

Reports say Ben Simmons is going to be ready during first-round series, Nets say not so fast — Boston Herald

Once again, Nets head coach Steve Nash said injured star Ben Simmons is still a ways away from making his season debut. And once again, a series of reputable reports suggest otherwise.
